On Friday evening, May 22, Naturalis opens its doors for an evening full of discovery in celebration of World Biodiversity Day. Expect inspiring talks, comedy, workshops, a pub quiz, a VR experience, and music. You don't have to be a plant whisperer or an avid birdwatcher to have a great time here.
Doors open at 6:30 PM and close at 11:00 PM.

And he still hasn't found an answer to the question of what's wrong with him. Tonight David van Rosmalen ventures into the strange realm of biology. Expect sharp observations, uncomfortable questions, and a healthy dose of self-mockery.

Not because it isn't important, but because to many people it feels like a foreign language. One that makes you tired or angry. Writer Vincent Luyendijk shows how you can actually start a conversation, even with your most skeptical neighbors. Because ultimately, we all want the same thing: a pleasant place to live. The only question is how we get there together.

Bij Naturalis Nights kijk je niet alleen toe, je doet zelf mee. Haal DNA uit een aardbei in het laboratorium, ontwerp je eigen onderwatersoort tussen de plastic soep of maak een herbariumkaartje van echte planten. Overal in het museum vind je interactieve activiteiten waarmee je biodiversiteit van dichtbij beleeft.
Ontmoet onderzoekersen hun verhalen
Hoe helpen sponzen bij de ontwikkeling van nieuwe medicijnen? Hoe ziet de landbouw van morgen eruit? En wat kunnen we leren van de enorme diversiteit in het dierenrijk? Tijdens Naturalis Night ontmoet je verschillende onderzoekers die je meenemen in hun werk, ontdekkingen en fascinatie voor de natuur.

Biodiversiteitom te horen en voelen
Van cabaret tot soundscapes: biodiversiteit klinkt deze avond door het hele museum. Muzikant Tristan Visser neemt je mee naar een wereld onder het ijs, DJ Gwenny laat beats en biodiversiteit samenkomen en bij de interactieve playtest van HKUxNaturalis ontdek je hoe verbinding ontstaat door samen geluid te maken.
Verrassende verhalenuit het museum
Praat met planten via augmented reality, wandel door het Surinaamse regenwoud of woon live een preparatie van een houtsnip bij. Grote en kleine verhalen uit de natuur komen deze avond op onverwachte manieren tot leven.
Een avondvol biodiversiteit
Doe mee aan de biodiversiteitspubquiz, kraak een taxonomiepuzzel in de escaperoom of proef verrassende zeewierproducten. Van talks tot workshops en van kunst tot wetenschap: tijdens Naturalis Nights ontdek je biodiversiteit vanuit alle mogelijke hoeken.
Kortom: waar je ook bent in het museum, er is altijd iets nieuws te beleven.
