The PRISMA-B project is developing recommendations for applying innovative monitoring techniques to meet the information requirements of statutory and policy-related biodiversity reporting by the LVVN and other government bodies. These bodies include those responsible for the Birds and Habitats Directives (VHR), the Nature Restoration Regulation (NHV), and relevant national policy initiatives, such as agricultural nature management (ANLb), basic nature quality (BKN), and monitoring tasks relating to the granting of permits.
Project summary
Innovative monitoring techniques such as eDNA analysis, image and sound recognition, radar and remote sensing have the potential to supplement and enhance existing traditional biodiversity monitoring methods. However, due to the variety of techniques and monitoring tasks involved, it is unclear where the greatest opportunities lie. PRISMA-B is conducting a structured review of the current state of these techniques and tasks with the aim of providing scientifically sound advice for an innovation agenda.
